I total agree with milliemars had the same happen to me in April. Had breakables put in the hold because hand luggage was just over and my case was light. Sat beside a woman on the plane whose hand luggage was so heavy she had a job to lift it into overhead storage when I asked if it had been weight 'oh no she said its only hand luggage just got a change of clothes some food and extras we cant get out there'. If the airline applies a rule it should be for everyone.
