Hisaronu is Total Rubbish

We met a couple 5 years ago who became friends. They have a disabled son and were looking for somewhere suitable to go on holiday.   We told them we had bought a place in Turkey and loved it.  We were surprised to hear from them that they did not like Turkey, they told use they used to go to the same little village in Turkey, every year but stopped going because the village changed so much. They said when they first went the farmers drove there stock through the streets, but the place had become so commericialised they decided not to go back  We told them about Calis and persuased them to try it.  They did and loved it so much they returned each year since.    The little village was Hisaronu.

We have also had some very good nights in Hisaronu. Although I wouldn't like to live there I feel I need (sadly) to point out that I quite obviously started this topic as a bit of fun. Like Pooks we were big fans of the Dragonaro Chinese restaurant, and also The Shine in Hisaronu for a half decent Indian, all washed down with brandies with home made chocolate milk shake (made with ice cream :D ). We also used to take the kids to a place that was a long outside terrace with a ballpark inside - I just can't remember the name now - we had one of their birthday parties there too.

:Dsometimes (only sometimes) I wish Hissy was closer to Uzumlu....it would save Mr Pookie and I getting up in the middle of the night to go and collect teenagers from the bars (cos they aren't old enough yet to stay out ALL night, and the cost of taxi's back from Hissy to Uzumlu make the evening too expensive for their budget).  As I said, thats only sometimes (like 2.30 / 3.00 in the morning)...:D

We fell in love with Turkey in 1999  when we discovered Olu Deniz, and the totally different attitude of the Turkish people
( friendliness etc ) compared to other Med destinations we had frequented over the years. Also the local scenery, and the proximity of Fethiye ( which we love ) also the closeness of Kaya ( whose charm we indulge in frequently now )
In 2003 we had the money and the opportunity to buy a property in the area. We were fortunate to meet back then an estate agent, who also became and still is a very good friend of ours ( Ahmet Akay of Lagoon Estates in Fethiye ) actually back then Lagoon Estates had not materialised .
We were shown properties back then in Calis  and instantly disliked it. We fell in love with a duplex apt on the edge of Hisaronu, towards the forest area.
I have said all this before... yes there is a `Bar Street` which kicks in from about 9/10 pm most nights in the season.Probably comparable to your `promenade` bit in Calis  where all the bars and restaurants are. Most Turkish resorts unfortunately now have a Bar Street, even Olu  Deniz.
Hisaronu`s Bar Street aside, which can be avoided late at night anyway. The village boasts excellent restaurants, lovely wood land walks, 6 mins away by Dolmus to Olu, the same for the charming Kaya village, and the beach another 5 mins away..... 25  mins away from Fethiye, and we have lots of Turkish locals in Hisaronu, unlike Calis...Geographically Hisaronu is far better placed than Calis  so tell me ? why do you knock Hisaronu ??  We love it there, but probably like you Calis people, we prefer out of season, or May / June / September / October, and avoid mid july to the end of August like the plague..
Anyway are you trying to tell me you dont get the late night beer swilling yobo types ( male and females ) in Calis ?  are there bars over there not showing football with the volume up to the extreme ? are there no Karaoke bars  booming loudly and selfishly in Calis ? Are there no bars in Calis not blasting out there music at night ??Are there not the fat middle aged  women walking around with mini bikini`s on, covered in tattoos, walking around Calis away from the beach ??  are there no groups of young girls parading along your `prom` bit hoping to get the attention of the Turkish men gawking at them ??  Do you not get pestered by Staff inviting you into their bars or restaurants over there in Calis ??
If you dont then Calis must be unique in the whole of Turkey  :)

Come on  now... of course all the above negativity applies to Calis as well ... so Hisaronu aint that much difference to Calis after 9 pm at night is it ??    ;)
I rest my case [^]

Sleuth, as my last post said i like a few nights out in hissy and enjoy it, but believe me there is a world of difference between hissy and Calis in most of the things you have mentioned, and no im  not a calisite just like the place, more quieter more chilled out but everones taste is different, if not it would be a queer old world.

I heard today that people staying permanently in Turkey without residency will no longer be allowed to do the island hop and stay using tourist visas. The new system will only allow you to stay for any 3 days in 7, assuming that you didn't leave the country between day 4 and 7. Anyone arriving in Turkey by plane will have to leave by bicycle and won't be allowed to return until they have grown a moustache. If you overstay, you will have to bake a cake for the passport police and upon eating it they will arrest you for working illegally. You will then be taken to Dalaman and forced onto a bus that goes directly to Altinkum, where you will have to live the rest of your life.

absolutely brilliant Scun, now perhaps the Nil Bar effes drinkers will give it a rest and find something else to invent. ;)[^]:D:D
