I'M with Jacqui on this one.Would feel that Diana's engagement ring would be a bit of a millstone. That was one unhappy marriage that I wouldn't wish on anyone..............where were these squirrels?????

Agree with Colwyn, yet more money the taxpayers in the U.K. will have to stump up for this young lady on the Civil List.
Agree with Jacqui about the ring. If he wants his late mother to be a part of things, he could have had the ring re-modelled into another piece of jewellery to be presented to his wife on their wedding day.
The news coverage was very sycophantic, and I wasn't moved in the slightest. Some people have suggested that this will be a boost to the Royal Family, I don't think that. I think that with all the cutbacks that people living in the U.K. are having forced upon them, the last thing they want to see is a multi-million pound wedding....paid for  by them.

It doesn't look like there is going to be any extra public money allocated to the wedding - so keep you hair on Colwyn ;) The cost is to come out of either the Civil List (which we already pay to the Queen) or her own personal money (well she is worth £290 mil. I'm sure  William and Kate will be careful not to over indulge in these hard times.

I'm really looking forward to it - might get a day off work to go fishing again like I did last time  :)

An interesting point regarding the cost of the Royal Family.

It costs approx £42 mill for the UK to stay in the European Union for ONE DAY - slightly more than as it costs to keep the Royals for ONE YEAR.

I think my £1.33 per year (as a tax payer) is something I am willing to pay to keep the Royals.

I know which I would get rid of!

P.S. I am now sick of it being on the news, it's getting boring.

Hear, hear Jacqui, on both counts.  I was a bit disturbed that he thought it was a good idea to give her Diana's ring. Of course, she won't have had much of a say in it.

You can't please people - complaints about another royal we will have to pay for and the first time they do a bit of recycling...
