There was a purpose to this - it may give new members an idea of some of the often occurring errors made on forums. Believe it or not, although it is easy to ask people to follow the rules, actually deleting posts is a horrible thing to have to do. If we can get across some of the basic rules but tongue in cheek, we'd have less to delete, every week
