info needed on flying economy plus
« on: January 11, 2011, 20:21:10 PM »
Has anyone ever flown on a long haul flight economy plus? My son is gong to Australia in March and someone has told him  you can fly economy plus for around an extra £150, apparantly it is better then flying economy you have better seats  and service better food and tv channels etc. I have never heard of this and dont have a clue how o go about booking this when the flight booking is done, any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Qantas I think, someone told him they paid an extra £150 for the economy plus and it was really worth it, we found a flight on Skyscanner but there was no option to book economy plus!

I'd say the same, go for it - work it out as an hourly rate and you get the extra legroom, better seats etc for £6 more per hour. Or if the £150 is for both ways, £3 per hour. We can all manage a four hour flight to Dalaman with pretty poor legroom etc., but it's amazing how much harder it becomes on longer flights. I used to travel business class to Dubai (which is around 7 hours) but one time the only way was economy with BA (the shame of it I know, I know!) and I was shocked by how cramped it was down the back! Also how difficult and long it made the 7 hour flight. I can't imagine how people doing long haul to Australia could survive economy for 23 hours or whatever it is. Your son won't be flying to Australia too many times I imagine so I'd say the £150 is well spent.

I wasn't paying for the flights by the way, it's amazing how much easier I deal with cramped flights when I have to pay for them myself :D

I always used to fly economy plus before I could afford business class. It is well worth it for a better seat. Food is the same though.

I have flow to Australia and on the way out had a seat next to the escape hatches that wasn't to bad but coming back had just a normal seat and unless your son is a contortionist and can sleep with his legs behind his neck I would say go for it the leg room on a jumbo is no better than a short haul Thomas cook flight.
