When it's 4 fares like it is for us John, driving 5 hours to Manchester saves us literally hundreds and hundreds of pounds - I have no problem doing that.

Spoken like a true Scotsman Sir :).

I'm sure it does save a family 100's, but as the title suggests, we would probably "need" overnight stays both ways.

Do you know why there is such a differences - is it "taxes" and if so why.

Did do Inverness - Gatwick - Dalaman once - never again:(

I once did Dalaman - Istanbul - Heathrow - Glasgow. That wasn't nice.

Gosh thats a huge difference in price. I dont know how they can justify that much. I wouldnt fancy a 5 hour drive though.
