I have a Roberts Radio R9969 and am always having to put batteries in it!
Does anyone know where I would find a DC 6V socket for a mains adaptor? In the book that comes with the radio it mentions this adaptor but I am hopeless with technical electricity stuff and haven't a clue where I would look for one of these!

I bought a charger from Maplin Electronics that comes with 10 adapters and you dial in the voltage that you want so that almost any rechargeable electrical item can be hooked-up to it. Cost about £25.

How much? The 1 I linked was £13.27. The problem with variable voltage chargers/adapters is they get knocked when the man does the dusting (unless the wife volunteers for a change!) then the radio goes boobies up & they are now £94 to replace, know which I'd prefer.

PS: No offence meant to any lady dusters out there, I have a naughty soh!

Would it not be cheaper to use rechargeable batteries and have a spare set ready charged to go when needed

Thanks for all the replies,I will look into buying the adaptor and going with the rechargables as well for travelling around.
