Just missed the last topic on bar singers now they are locked.i have a serious question ...being a tax payer in Turkey.is it legal for these people to be working here anyway? i know the answer and was wondering if anyone else new!

I thought they could if they held an entertainment permit, that is an opinion of someone who could not hot a tune in a bucket.

I know Dennis and Kenny both got licences. Think they cost them a few thousand Lira as well

It depends if they are 'self employed' or working for a tour/holiday co. If the former the answer is yes, if the latter then no.

Not so long a go someone was deported having been given a warning about singing in bars without a permit and then continued to do so. There is no second warning just deportation.

Working here (anywhere doing anything) usually only becomes a problem if "someone" reports it. Then it has to be investigated and once paperwork has been filled in then there is no turning back.

It does seem the authorities generally prefer to let things go up to that point as they have better things to do...

I also have a friend who was reported and it is not a pleasant experience - she is now a citizen so has no need to fear the sort of person who would be willing to take the step to ruin someones life.

So, does that mean, Nichola, that you condone all of the illegal immigrants, and others, who work in the U.K. without the required permits, and not paying any taxes, N.I. contributions etc.?? How many lives do THEY ruin, I wonder??
