sunbeds in may on the beach?

The beach issue is almost resolved at least for this season. We have spoken to the chairman of the Calis Association who are stuck in the middle trying to keep a balance between the politics of government and the local municipality, and are advised that the environmental agency FETAB (Fethiye Turizm Alt Yapi Hizmet Birligiare) which is the Fethiye Tourism Infrastructure Service Association, are looking after the beach for the time being.  They are charging 5TL each sunbed and 15TL for 2 sunbeds and a parasol for the day. There are now signs up along the beach front showing these prices. The money raised from the sunbed charges are being ploughed back into the environment and villages so some good comes from the money raised.  We are also advised that the number of turtle nests has increased this year so please watch out for the cages which are dotted along the beachfront showing the location of the egg clutches - they are not litter bins!!

So, this begs the question; Why are they charging so much for the beds and parasols when the Mayor of Fethiye is supposed to have supplied them for free?

Oh, 15tl is a jump of alomst 50% since last season. 10.50TL for 2 sunbeds and a sunshade last year. Huge percentage rise, but still not bad when converted.
