CALIS CARNIVAL DAY TODAY!!!!!!!!!!

It's Calis Carnival Day today so make sure you head on down to the promenade for a great day of fun events :D:D
The programme is:

10.00 to 5.00 - EXHIBITION in the gardens next to Mutlu Hotel and Yoruk tents  - lots of arts and crafts, paintings, information stands, book signings, Turkish produce and much more

10.00 until finished - COMMUNAL PAINTING PROJECT next to Yoruk tents and exhibition area - English artist Tina mcCallan will be inviting 100 carnival visitors to join in this years communal painting project by each painting a square of a famous painting - no experience or artistic talent needed!

4.30 CARNIVAL PARADE - Led by a musical band and the Mayor of Fethiye and other officials, the colourful parade will start from the Sat parking area and enter onto the promenade at the Yoruk tents end. It will then proceed along the promenade to the Er-oz restaurant where it will turn right over the canal bridge and down the main street past the shops, bars and restaurants to the 22m road junction. It will then circle and return back down the main street, back over the bridge and turn right by the Harem restaurant.It will then continue down the promenade to Mado and the car boot car park/concert area where the walking groups will leave the procession. The vehicles will continue to the Seril end of the promenade and return along the back street to the car park.  Please note if you you want to see all of the procession you must be positioned between the Yoruk tents and the Mado or on the main street

5.30 DANCE SHOW by various school groups on the stage at the Concert area in the Calis Car boot Car Park next to Bahar Hotel

6.00-6.30 PRESENTATION of cups and awards at the concert area

7.00 - CARNIVAL CONCERT - Acts this year are SELIM GÜNDAY, AHMET ERARSLAN and MEDCEZIR GROUP. The headline band of the evening are Istanbul group DOLAPDERE BIG GANG. Dolopdere are a really good 8 piece band and a great stage act who sing in English - check them out on utube

Finally don't forget the 3C's big fundraiser which is the final event of this years Carnival. Details are:

Wednesday 1 June - 7.00 ANNUAL CHARITY PROMISES AUCTION - Calis Children's Children (3C's) will be setting up the auctioneer's podium on Calis seafront in front of the Nil Bar and Orient Express Restaurants. All restaurants from Dennis the Menace to Bostans will be participating so there will be lots of seating for everyone. There are over 130 lots so far and they are still coming in - check out the full auction list and bidding details for online bids {A Link to an old CBF topic was here - no longer available}41019 - a great place to pick up some real bargains and help the children at the same time.

Watch out for the 3C's float in todays parade - there will be 3C's members as you have never seen them before (and not likely to see them like again )  Also if you have any loose change that is weighing your pockets down we will have our belediye registered collecting buckets with us and will be more than happy to help to take it off your hands - we think our float will be about 4th in the parade

I am fated never to attend the carnival and today is no exception - but I am please to see that from where I am sat it looks like the rain did clear and the sun is shining

Sun was shining and the parade was great.  Well done to all involved.  It's so lovely seeing the happy faces of the kids as they get cheered along

p.s. I was little surprised at the relatively few collection buckets going round
