Well I'm still waiting for the "guvnor" to get my username right so am not quite bedded in yet!

I'm a chatterbox in real life & very used to internet forums having moderated a few over the last 5 years so found asking questions & getting in the flow of the banter quite easy, can see how some think it's a bit cliquey, every forum I've ever been on has that comment!

As for the purpose of the forum (which I presume is to offer information about Calis & surrounding areas & not just the current price of Efes ) I have found it a total godsend & will go so far as to say I would have made some mistakes in my pending move without it! I have learnt where the best banking rate is (very important), it has put me in touch with various people who I would never have found without the forum (such as Tinkerman who will help me to help Animal Aid when I get settled as I intend to volunteer 1 day a week to keep me from getting bored, as if!).

I have been able to share some of my holiday snaps with favourable reviews which is nice, also being able to answer some of the more simple questions with my limited knowledge has been rewarding to me.

To sum up: Nice folk, interesting banter, quality & quantity of information is top class (irrespective of the differing opinions as you get that in any walk of life) & I genuinely feel my life has been better for my membership of CBF, thank you Keith for the hard work in keeping us going, I know from experience what time & effort running a forum takes & no, I don't want to be your next Mod, thank you anyway lol.

PS: How much is Efes in the Nil today?

I joined just over a couple of years ago to find out as much as I could about Calis Beach and the surrounding area, as we'd never been before.
I wrote down all the highly recommended restaurants, bars, trips, etc and when I arrived at the Oykun hotel, I felt I'd been in the resort already. I've loved being a member here and hope to be for a long time to come.

I also joined a couple of years ago and I love it. As I have said before I may not be an avid poster but deffinately an avid watcher. I love the forum and It has been a godsend as far as where to eat and what to do, couldn't fault it. And I love sharing some of my photos on here too, and if I was ever to move to Turkey then it would be the first place I look to glean an much advice as possible in the many topics concerning just that. I love it and would be lost without my fix of CBF.

Is joining the forum a bit like when you move to a new area and first start going to the local pub? Generally everyone will welcome you and be as helpful as they can. Over time as they get to know you they will gradually welcome you more and more. You soon establish that there are a whole mixture of personalities that you grow accustomed to as you become part of the community. Over time you decide just how much involvement you wish to have or indeed you may be happy just to be a by-stander.

On the other hand if you arrive in said new pub with a very obnoxious, self opinionated attitude you will rub the locals up the wrong way and will quickly be shown the door.

Well that is how I have explained it in the past, the difference being that people don't generally go into a pub to tell the landlord and locals how cr4p they think it is - they appear to make the effort to do so when it comes to CBF - mainly because they are cowards who don't give their true identity - acting all hard because they know they can't be punched like they probably would be in the aforementioned pub.

I meet Rindaloo and her husband Dave, plus one or 2 friends at CAFE SOUL every wednesday between 12 and 2pm, Highlander joined us for the last 2 wednesdays, so if anybody wants to come down, then you will be welcome, it's as good a place as anywhere to start the ball rolling again. Alan
