Sigh, you can never win with exchange rates can you? I bought £500 worth at 2.6 and thought I was being ever so clever as it was bound to down before September!  :-\

Mind you last year I bought at 2.45 and by the time I got to Calis it was 2.2 :D

blimey! It was around 2.28 when we were out last year, will be interesting to see how it is when we are out next week. We usually take cash in GBP and use a change office type thing in Fethiye. If it stays at 2.8-2.9, we'll be getting 50-60 lira more than we did last year for every £100 we change, which is a result  :)

Don't use the change offices!  You get a better rate in the banks.

Why not do what we did? We applied for a Clarity credit card from the Halifax. When we were out in May the rate was approx 2.5 to the pound. On the card we were getting between 2.55 and 2.6. No charges either, obviously if you don't clear it at the end of the month you will pay interest.

It is certainly handy for hire cars and the like>

There isn't alot of difference between the banks and change offices in Fethiye. Of course the banks offer more.
