There's no escaping the fact you are in Turkey

When we arrived at Nevada Su I noticed that there was a Fire Escape Plan on our bedroom door (is that usual in Turkey).

Anyway, I decided to follow the escape route shown on the Plan - leave room, turn right, go along corridor past the lift, turn right then left, along corridor to fire escape door and down the spiral staircase.

The photograph below (taken from ground level) shows the fire door on the second floor where our bedroom was.

There's a drain pipe to shimmy down. What more do you want?

OK - one fixed to the wall might be better :D

There certainly wouldn't be much room for joking if there was a fire. How this hotel was allowed to open is beyond belief - the newest hotel in Calis and the biggest disregard for the lives of customers possible. Sorry but I can't see anything funny.

Indeed so. I would be interested in what the general situation is. For example does the Oykun or the Mutlu have external fire escapes

This is Turkey Keith. Rules don't apply to buildings like the rest of Europe.

Well the point is that it is better to let people find their own way downstairs and out than to guide them to a 30ft jump.

The likes of Thomas Cook and Thomson or whoever are in the EU and they have a duty of care regarding their clients. Can you imagine this on the UK news after a tragedy (God forbid) and a spokesman for Thomas Cook saying it didn't matter that there were fire escape plans and no actual fire escape, because Turkey aren't in the UK?!!
