Kerri - have done the Antalya to Fethiye route a few times - the only bad bit is getting from The airport to the coach station, OK in daytime when the service bus or the Havas bus runs but outwith that its a Taxi.
Car hire from the airport is a great way to do it, as KKOB says should be very competitive rates out of season.

You guys are great! Glad I joined. Hubby is a confident driver home and abroad I think car hire would be the best. My map reading skills are not too bad, I heard that sat nav is not reliable in turkey???? Anyone know? I will look into getting a decent road map anyway. Thanks everyone.

Sat Nav is not unreliable in Turkey, it doesn't work at all lol, well maybe a little but certainly not much! Driving from Antalya is an experience, I enjoyed the mountain route (3 hours) & then the coastal route back (5 hours with a stop for lunch).

Once you have found your way out of the airport complex onto the main road it's not that difficult.

Nothing showing after I think it's 3rd January from Dalaman direct to UK. The alternative to going via Istanbul is the 4 ish hour bus journey to Antalya for a direct to Manchester (& sometimes Brum)

having driven from calis to cappadocia 3 times and istanbul twice my tomtom satnav was 100% right
it found all the hotels we booked on route to. Just do not set it to go shortest route unless you have a 4WD and 4 times as long to do the journey in

Steve, thankyou, that is really useful to know, tell me, do you have a newish TomTom? any tips on what model you have and which map card (if additional to what comes with the tomtom as standard) would be appreciated. Our tomtom is a few years old and I wonder whether it is worth investing in a new one.

Try British Airways,Flying Heathrow to Istanbul [Ataturk]and back throughout most of November,December and some of January, flights one way at 65 Euros at the moment, don't know how they link with the journey onwards with Turkish Air into Dalaman, also believe Atlas Jet are flying Dalaman to Istanbul, again don't know times or cost.
