I would like to know who gives the Stars in Turkey/  How can this be a 5* when it's not built and no one has reviewed it yet?  I would imagine someone starts building an Hotel and decides for themselves it's 5* who is going to argue?
Probably best to give it a season and see exactly what people really think about it.

My daughter bought the first edition of a magazine last week. There is a weekly competition for the three best drawings of something or other to do with the subject of the magazine. The three winners in last week's seemed quite good - but how did they know to send them in  8)

I know the Tourist boards in the the U.K. give the Star Ratings to Hotels. They calll to the Hotel do an inspection and then give out the stars.  The rules are quite strict on Star rating I believe.
So British Hotels cannot just award themselves stars.

Normally the star is given on the plans of a hotel. Facilities (pool, gardens, bars, restaurants etc) plus location, room types (ie do they offer standard, deluxe, junior suite rooms etc, and their size) are taken into consideration.

Having said that the Jumeirah Beach in Dubai was always advertised as the first 6* hotel, which always made me laugh because 6* simply does not exsist! So maybe the Jiva advertises as a 5* and then will be re graded when the inspectors arrive.

went past it today, it looks like a concrete multi storey car park surrounded by overgrown wasteland littered with building materials.
Lots of people working on the building, and on the unfinished houses next door. Theyre spraying something on the outside of the building, then putting blue (plastic ?)  film on, then spraying over the top of that. No windows or doors yet, just a concrete shell.

Looks like it would take a miracle to be ready for the season, just the building alone, how they can landscape the surroundings as well I have no idea, but Im no expert, maybe they will be ready.

Jan you're correct, its on the right hand side. Nothing more been done on the left side, just a brick wall surrounding whatever its going to be.
