Private Dogs on the street
« on: February 28, 2012, 08:13:40 AM »
As from 15th March the dog catcher will be patrolling the streets of Fethiye Beldiye area full time collecting dogs for neutering, this includes private dogs that are left to wander the streets.
The law has just been changed and will allow private dogs to be collected and neutered, that will be followed by a fine to the owner.

There will be plenty of publicity about this through Turkish newspapers and the tanoy system but if you have Turkish neighbours who allow their dogs out might be an idea to warn them.

and not before time Andy, they are a bloody nuisance running around the prom and in and out of the restaurants, the waiters do try to chase them off but some people call them over and start to feed them which of course is nice for the dogs but not for other people who dont want them around your legs.

Thats another story Des, this is to prevent the Private dogs from making unwanted puppies where the street dogs have nearly all been neutered

Oh I do hope that he comes to the Sunday market, I wish the Zabita would too and collect the private owned dogs that are left to roam during the day. None of them are neutered and my next door neighbour is the worst his dog has already fathered 2 if not more litters. We have a lovely street dog that has shown up recently, he needs neutering. But would he be returned to the area afterwards?

Yes all street dogs picked up should be neutered and returned, the private dogs I think will have to be collected by the owners.
I will put a mention in to them about the Sunday market area Nikkie

please Andy, normally early morning and evenings after 5pm are the problem times, especially when I'm trying to take Frank out (on his lead) and have all and sundry trying to start fights! The big brown street dog around us if fine Franks best mate  :) but needs neutering.

About time! The street dogs are placid and lovely. The ones that are just let loose  are a pain! After moving house I am so surprised at how many dogs are wandering around in packs here. Its not nice when trying to walk 2 dogs on a lead, one who is scared to death of other dogs. the other too cocky!
