Oceanwide Properties are proud sponsors of the group and will be running a property Q&A drop in session at F.I.G's coffee morning on Wednesday 4 April

If you have any queries about buying renting or anything to do with properties while here come along and talk to them

As with all charitable events I wish you well for this event. However if the advice from Oceanwide is as good as their 2011 press release below, I wouldn't bother turning up to be honest...

"In 2010 prices for villas and apartments in Fethiye rose around 6 % over the 12 month period", continues Suleyman. "We have seen no dip in this figure and from January to April 2011 prices in the locality where we have an office, homes have gone up already by 9 % on last years prices.

Which is, as anyone from the real World of estate (or indeed property owners) will tell you, total boll0cks from first word to last - absolutely shameful lies. Give FIG a tenner and stay at home, they are a marketing company who want to sell you houses.

Try a loss of 10% and they'll be nearer the correct figures

No Anne, read further:

"...according to Suleyman this is across the board from those seeking to retire abroad to a different and more relaxed life style to investors who are impressed by the rate of property price increases in recent years".

They are not coming to sell, just to answer questions and concerns anyone may have regarding renting and buying issues here

Many of the other mornings where we have had speakers on various topics have been very well received

FiG do not make any money out of these mornings, in fact I would say that we lose as some people who do not usually come to our coffee morning, come for the advice and forget to pay for any drinks theyve had when they leave! We can see this by how much more coffee and cake we sell which isnt reflected in the takings

That said It would be nice if you sometimes supported FiGs activities instead of pouring scorn on something you have never attended Scunner,  please dont make disparaging remarks on here telling people not to attend!

Well your reply was fair enough until you decided to add the last line so let me answer without the courtesy I afforded you earlier in this topic.

Firstly, I support FIG activities by giving you your own section, for nothing, on a website that attracts over 30 million hits every year, and another on Fethiye.co.uk which you told me you don't post in because not as many people visit that as here. I would say in zero-cost support for FIG you do quite well out of knowing me, far better than I do from knowing you. Every event you have staged I have added to the Calis Beach Forum calendar, or you have started a new topic about, so the people who read 22,000 pages A DAY on here can see what you are doing. In return I ask for nothing.

Secondly, you are promoting a Property Q&A session with a company I have clearly showed to you (by quoting them directly) who don't let reality get in the way of selling properties. They are prepared to say anything in their pursuit of property sales. Ask Cenk Avci at highly respected Interturk, or if you want others - don't rely on irrelevant little me - ask people who have respect locally - ask Ahmet Akay at Lagoon or Mete Ay at Golden Moon - have property prices increased in Fethiye by 6% in 2010, followed by a further 9% last year? No, it is lies - specifically designed to attract idiots with money to invest. Are these people the experts needed to answer questions on buying/owning property in Turkey?

As for me not supporting FIG activities I take it that you don't like the fact that for 2012 we decided to give our support for the 3C charity project with Bozalan School, and that is obviously disappointing. I have told several people several times that my intention is to have a CBF charity project every year, partnering with a different local charity each year until we have partnered with all of them, then start again. Having read your assessment of what support I give (apparently don't give) for FIG, I can guarantee to you that your post has convinced me that I won't bother trying to help you anymore.

I don't want a medal for running/funding CBF, it's just the fact that I have never read such an ungrateful post in my life.

While not wishing to denigrate the work FIG do locally, I too have reservations about the quality of advice likely to be on offer.

Anyone who claims a 15% overall increase in prices for 2010/2011 is plainly not in touch with what has happened locally over the past few years.  If they truly believe these figures (which I doubt) then personally I would be extremely cautious about any other advice they may provide relating to property in the Fethiye/Calis areas.
