There was a young chap at my house this morning he had childrens colouring books and was asking 5tl for them.He had an id badge and spoke good English.I was just leaving the house and the conversation went something like this...........Pardon,are you English? Me: No I'm Scottish.............Oh,do you speak English?    Me: No..............Sorry,have a nice day!He could have been kosher but there are so many scams around its difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Like it Grizabella.  Somebody called at our apartment, he said he was a doctor and was selling in aid of sick children.  I told him I didn't want anything but would give a donation.  I went in to get some money but when I went back to the door he had disappeared.

There are definitely around the Ciftlik area this week. I have had two visits this week both selling very expensive colouring books and tooth paste and brushes. Both lots had badges but was not close enough to see them and did not speak English. But is'nt it funny how they can always make you understand the price  ;D ;D ;D They did not stop long because of the dogs and I just walk away.

Nothing to do with the above posts. Sat on the front last nite having a meal and the man who is virtually bent double was coming along the front selling the little tie on braclets It was a real struggle for him to get along in this heat.  I cant believe that everyone totally ignored him. He wasnt intrusive or annoying in any way.  My friend and I put together our loose change and gave it to him and was rewarded with the biggest sunniest smile.

We were just speaking about this man on our last visit we remarked we had not seen him this time.  He used to live in an old caravan parked at the back of the prom next to the big place where all the Turkish wedding are.  As the caravan is no longer there we though he must have moved on.  Last year he used to come around with his little daughter.  I would always buy a bracelet from him as it's so sad to see him struggling along and he does not beg he has something to sell.  We used to say that we admired his courage.
