Mussels in Calis
« on: July 23, 2012, 19:09:27 PM »
Has anyone every tried the mussels sold by the guy with the big basket, he is usually by the bridge but comes along the prom sometimes
Last month we were in Georges and it was getting late.  Serkul next door was closing and one of the waiters came in with a huge plastic bag of mussels, he put it on the table and all the staff dived in squeezing lemon the mussels and eating them.
I would really fancy trying them sometime, but would like an opinion please ;D :-\

Loz & I both LOVE them, and I'm VERY fussy about sea-food !! They are sold with boiled rice inside, ( don't quite know how they manage that) lol, but are scrummy !!  :P

Agree with all - they are by far the best mussels I have had anywhere, ever.

Yes, it's a very ancient art. The Mussel Wranglers have to teach the mussels not to eat the rice while they're being boiled.

O.K. will give them a try now I have so many glowing recommendations. Always wanted to have a go but sometimes shellfish can be a bit iffy... So will trust the general opinion on the Forum.... Ta.
