Manchester City and chelsea play next Sunday in the Charity Shield, Man City being Alans team, what say you all on meeting at Dawn Beach or wherever and have a drink to Alan.

Splendid idea Tink. There will be many in the UK there in spirit with you.

Great idea. I won't be there but will watch it here and be cheering for Alan's team (sorry Tinx).

hi everyone, I just wanted to update you all, my dad passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning. the last time I saw him yesterday I told him how his thread was 9 pages long, and how scunner had updated the tag line to praying for alan, i told him about highlander and everyone being how youve all been and even though the doctors said he would never move again he opened his eyes and tried to lift forward, he knew what i was saying and he died knowing truely how many people were his friends.

I speak for myself grant and mitchell, but  most importantly when i say my dad, he wouldnt want you all being upset, he got himself better five years ago and never looked back, he met so many wonderful people and he waited until after city won last night in dawn beach, a fitting memory if ever i can think of one, my dad even said last year if city won the premiership he could die happy, and they did!!!! anyone who knew him have a drink for him, dont be too upset as he would have wanted to be remembered for who he was and not what happened in the end.

I am truely sorry that i didnt meet more of you, thankfully i got to meet laffa, anne, highlander, rindaloo and so many others, and as i said before I felt like I knew the rest, dad thought the world of scunner, keith and the rest of you,

I was talking to a friend yesterday and I said how while i may not be the most religious person in the world the positive energy I felt from this forum was like a wave of something I cant describe, it made things so much easier to know you were all there.

thankyou, youve all been amazing xx

Devastating news Guy. Brenda and I send our deepest condolences.

Alan is as peace now and for that we are grateful.

Another star in the heavens today.

Our condolences too.  However, it seems Alan had a good and happy life doing all the things he wanted to particulary his time in Calis and how wonderful he saw his team win.  So now his family and friends can celebrate his life.

Our deepest sympathies.  He was a lucky man to be so happy with his lot and you boys were so lucky to have him for your dad.  Rest in peace.

Our condolences too. I never met Alan but read his posts on here with interest. This thread shows how well liked & loved he was and you can take some comfort in that. It was obvious he was a great father to you and a great friend to many.
