When web browsing, you can increase the type size, but it will mean you have to pan to right and left to read.  Which (I wont lie to yew, as they say) IS a pain.   Mine has free 3G and though it wont replace an iPad (say), it has been very handy for peeking at Mail, Facebook and (of course) CBF anywhere I happen to be, even when our own internet went up the spout a couple of weeks ago.

In the end I bought a Kindle WiFi (without the keyboard) and it is Fantastic. I have no need for the 3G as I have WiFi in the villa so can download all I need from that.
If I was buying now I'd investigate the Nook ereader which has a built in light for night time reading.

You can buy a light for a kindle for£2 on the internet, or if you buy a new one you can get one for free .  I only have the basic Kindle.  Allows me internet access which might be basic but it works enough for me.

Just to let you know that in the end I kept the Kindle Fire but only for two reasons.

1. Jeany got hooked on a game

2. It went past the return date.

otherwise it would have gone back. I've now got a very expensive game player with one game :(

I got Carole the new paperwhite Kindle when it came out last month, she is delighted with it and it does not disturb me when she reads at night.

Hi all. I am sorry if I missed some detail in this post but as I understand it, there is a way of connecting a dongle to a Kindle? I am thinking of buying a Kindle Fire HD and occasionally using it for a bit of web browsing and Skype. This would leave the old Kindle and laptop at home and save a bit of baggage. However, I can't see how I could attach my Turkcell dongle to a Kindle and make it work? If anybody has any experience of this, I would really like to hear from them. I am also a bit concerned about the comments regarding reading in sunlight. Anybody have Fire HD excperience, in this regard? Any advice will be gratefully received. Many thanks, John

Not exactly a dongle but you could use one of these I suppose...

Only you do not have to go about unlocking or re registering in Turkey,  would not be without my little gizmo now.
