At one point in time, single or divorced women were 'targeted' as potential brides so that Turkish men could gain entry to the UK. There was financial gain for those women deemed 'suitable. The women received a sum of money on marriage, plus holidays for a period of 5 years after which they received a final settlement and FREEDOM. During this period the men involved would have received their visas AND UK passport, which was the aim of "the game". These women were consenting to the deal. Now with the new UK laws this has scuppered the scam. Women have to have an income of £18,600 before their 'spouse' is allowed a spousal visa for entry into the UK, after which, they can apply for their UK passport, 28 months later. Of course if some silly wealthy woman wants to be taken in then I doubt very much if tales in magazines and the intervention of friends would change their minds. I have to say that Tunisia is rife with young men, courting older women and it's not for love and comfort!
