Rhodes Earthquake Thursday
« on: February 01, 2013, 10:52:59 AM »
My friend Lynn who lives in Corfu rang me yesterday to say that they had had the biggest earth tremor she had ever experienced in Corfu.  Seems that they had an earthquake in Rhodes, measuring 6.9 yesterday morning and the after shock hit Corfu at 10 am.  I wondered if anywhere in Turkey felt the effects?  There hasn't been anything on the news about it.  During my 11 years in Corfu, we had loads of earth tremors and I know that Calis and Fethiye had a few big tremors last year.

Ray1951 - I've googled that and can find no record of a 6.9 earthquake in Rhodes yesterday.

And Corfu is nowhere near Rhodes! It is probably 10x the distance from Rhodes to Corfu than it is Rhodes to Fethiye...

The biggest quake yesterday was a 6.1 in the Santa Cruz islands.
Can't see anything over 4 anywhere near Greece
