That's a real shame - it was fantastic in April, going from arriving at the terminal straight through security and passport control to gate. With hand baggage only and assigned seats rather than the traditional scrum at the gate, it was so easy and stress free.

Yes, that's what I'd been hoping for too Scunner, even with checking in luggage, but it was possibly one of the worst check-ins we've ever had.

Don, get there early and you'll probably sail through in about 10 minutes!!   Then spend about 2 hours trying to find somewhere comfortable to sit in Dalaman airport!!   ;D  ;)

But hey-ho, we're back again next May, with Easyjet!  Gluttons for punishment   :D

Triffic! It was good when I flew out in April & again in June. Flying out again next Monday so it looks like I'll have to leave another hour to get through the procedure;(

We flew back with EJ 2 weeks ago.

I read that note about Dalaman not allowing us through with an online boarding pass - but we  went through OK without going to the check in desk (hand luggage only).

When we were boarding the flight, we showed our printed boarding cards and they just handed us just the small tear off part of a traditional card they had at the desk.

There was no issue at all - no moaning or telling off for not following rules.

we had a pain in the a*** of a check-in when we came back a couple of weeks ago, we stood there for an hour and a half, not moving at all, they apparently had trouble printing baggage labels, but there never seems to be anyone capable of sorting it out.
We normally take hand baggage but with the new size regs, we thought we'd check a bag in, but the fact that easyjet optimistically call it 'Bagdrop' made us think that's exactly what it would be, just drop it off and off you go. I was so disappointed to find it was no more than the old fashioned check in!!

Angela, I think that's what we were hoping for.  Print off your own boarding pass, go to bagdrop and everything sorted!  In the end, like you say, it's just a plain old queue to check-in!   : :)

Thanks Ian I think I will give it a try. I suppose if you get through passport control you should be able to get on the flight as the computer system knows you have booked in. Fingers crossed :P

Don,

FYI it was September 11th we flew. They looked at the boarding cards at security and just said OK.

I thought we might get moaned at when we got to the  gate but as I said earlier, they just swapped our home printed boarding cards for old style card ones and sent us through. They didn't even question it.

I think the problem they have is that they don't have the bar-code scanners at the gate - and they need something to tear off to prove who is/is not on the plane. EJ's internet boarding cards don't have a section they can tear off so it doesn't work. I guess they just print an old style card for those who haven't checked in at the desk and take them to the gate to get around it now.

We're coming over next month with Jet2.

Can't believe they charge you about £15 to check in online - it's my computer/broadband width/time/printer paper & ink etc - they are doing nothing! Mind you, they charge even more to check in in person at the airport....

Try as we might, we couldn't find a way for only two of us to have a bag either, so we've had to pay for one each. :(
