Who is the builder??
Peter said in a recent topic he was buying from Manzara.

I would say in 10 years I experienced just one (or possibly two) that wouldn't clean before handover and they were both cheaper end apartment builders. In some cases they were so bad (solid plaster lumps stuck to ceramic floors, proper builder mess) that we would pay to have them cleaned in the early cases, or with that knowledge at least tell the customer that a clean would be necessary before they came over to see their dream place in the su

We bought from a very well respected builder who also has an estate agent  and hotel in Calis.  We were told by this agent that it was the norm in Turkey to have to pay for a clean before taking possession of a new property.

Now, I wonder why your agent would have told you that, when Scunner has who dealt with so many people buying houses in 10 years, had a totaly different view?  I suppose this means that your builder must have  been the 1 or maybe 2  of the apartment builders that Scunner mentioned?

You do have to remember the point made earlier, that a builder's clean is not what many people would call clean  ;)

I would defend my builder absolutely, all I can say is that he has built several high quality properties in the area, is very well respected by all of those know him, and I may say by ourselves, but we were told that we had to pay for a clean, which we did, as did several others who had properties built by this company.  We were told that this was "normal for Turkey" and paid for the clean.  We just accepted it as the norm and paid.  It was quite a surprise to hear that this was not the norm for Turkey.  There is absolutely no implication that this company constructs poor quality properties, nor would we name them as we consider them to be at the "superior" end of the construction market.

We bought a new build from Nicholas and I gave them a list of about five items we wanted doing prior to accepting it,the final item being a good clean. We were there measuring up one morning and an elderly lady turned up with a few simple cleaning items. We left her to it and went off to Fethiye and returned later that day.She was just finishing the windows and the place was sparkling. All marble floors, balconies and sills, windows and patio doors inside and out (she polished the glass with newspapers),bathrooms and kitchen ready to use.We gave her a good tip,she deserved it.We know others buying off Nicholas had a free final clean. We had a good experience.     :)  :)

Sadler, I am surprised you will not name your builder as he is so good and so superior and you are pleased with your property.  I am sure a recommendation would be appreciated by other members thinking of buying. :o
Do your really thing it would put people off to know they have to pay out a few quid to get a house cleaned, particularly if they are assured the builder is top knotch??  I know it would not bother us.   ;D    ;)  In fact, we would welcome your recommendation, we may be in the market for another property in the near future.  :)

I already have Jacqui several times in previous posts.  As the subject here is slightly on the negative side, I would prefer not to on this occasion, however, if you really are interested, you can always pm me!  ;)
