Just returned from 12 days in the Golden Moon apartments (near the Harman Hotel),could not believe the state of the road! manhole covers sticking out of the road, cars going on both sides to avoid them, walking at night was horrendous as traffic came at you in both directions, no pavement on either side so you chance your life on every journey however short!! The local people wet the roads to lay the dust but our apartment and balcony needed mopping every day to keep the place reasonably dust free. what chance an improvement by next year??

Now a mystery has developed?

This morning the road has been completed to just before the Aydin Pide roundabout, but where they had left a 5 foot gap on one side between the edge of the road and the kerb which looked like it would be the much talked about cycle lane. Now just around the Peace Villas area they have started block paving from one kerb to the other?

The cycle lane along the harbour in fethiye is block paved if I remember rightly, with metal bars shaped like "n" to seperate the traffic, maybe they are doing the same on BMB. But then I have spent the last 10 weeks in despair [ otherwise known as Calis], trying to guess whats going on and thinking how it could have been organised better.

I left yesterday - BMV from the dolphin-less roundabout is, I believe, still blocked off altogether - it certainly was a couple of days ago.  Then the road has been totally dug up and is a real mess although the pavements are nearly sorted!  The dolmuses take variable routes, so I don't know what happens to people who are waiting for one in a 'normal' place.  I have found the Huzerevi one certainly deviates quite widely!!
Still - if you're lucky it might be more reasonable in another month...!

It is, however, very frustrating when you have, as I did, visitors, and want to 'show off' the area!

Here's the bit I don't get, they have spread literally hundreds of tons of fine sand mixed with concrete powder over the new pavements, all of this creates further dust and with the water tankers spraying water all day it treads into every house and business, but virtually nobody has swept it into the pavement gaps and then away from their front doors. I don't get it ?

Brilliant, Happy Flyer - thanks.  Pity they didn't manage to get this far a couple of months earlier - but better late than never, I suppose!

I didn't get the grouting process either George, surely when all the gaps are filled in with dry lean, the surplus should be swept up.We did see an eldery local breaking away some blocks so he could open his front gate, fortunately the one where his car was parked was a slider.A lot of pavement levels seem like they have been raised, but hopefully it will all be worth the upheaval  8)
