Be very careful with pepper spray - it can be taken from you and used against you - and also can blow straight back in your face when used (you won't have any time to check wind direction).

Best I think is a rape alarm, people don't half run when an alarm goes off.

Because when someone tried to break into our house, messing with the window set the alarm off. In the time it took me to get from the bed to the window, the would-be intruder had made it 50 metres to the end of the road and I just saw his head as he turned the corner.

An alarm definitely helps people run in the opposite direction, very fast   ;)

I agree with you Keith in the wrong hands but Iam trained and proficient in the use of such sprays and other deadly arts!

The lads did out out last night but wouldn't go alone and were takin a taxi back :(

280 views and only two comments, I find that a bit sad also :(

Why Tinx? What do you want us to say? It's awful and 280+ people have read it and been warned.

Personally I didn't reply because nothing surprises me any more - wherever you are in this world.

Only way to reduce incidents like this is a bigger police presence but I won't hold my breath.

Thanks for the warning anyway. We are always careful late at night and usually get a taxi home. I hope they catch the scumbags!

When  I was in Calis last Aug I  did see Police on motorbikes on the prom,  and police on the main street  during the evenings which I found reassuring.  I appreaciate the  news in that it will make me  think twice going down any dark streets this year.(take the same precautions as I do at home) Just glad the lads were not attacked  and hope they can salvage their holiday.

This is really quite scarey for young lads or anyone.  We had an egg throwing from scooter incident one night last Autumn (they missed!) and it is unnerving, so goodness only knows how the boys felt with the machete.  Thanks for the warning and we will take care when walking around at night in Calis.  Glad to know the lads are getting on with their holiday and hope that this has been a rare occurrence.

I totally agree with Scunner on the use of 'Screech Alarms', I made sure all my female staff in the UK had them to hand, especially when away from the office. Nobody ignores them.
