These protests seem to be producing a great deal of music, photography and humour - including copying RTE by calling their protest çapul (looting/plundering).

When we see small snippets in the news, it doesn't look as bad as it does when you see this.  I have friends who live in Istanbul and they are really passionate about the wrongs that are being heaped on the country and it's people.  This started out as a peaceful demonstration which escalated into violence because of police intervention. Even Gul stated that the police went in too heavy handed. Thanks for the video. I hope that the 'goal' is achieved.

One thing I am particularly interested in hearing is the views of our Turkish friends over there rather than political or journalistic takes on the situation.

So far, on the subject of the future - the combined view of good, everyday Turks that I know is that Erdogan is irrepairably damaged. He is finished, but his actual end will be a slow process.

 So So upsetting! things must have to get that bad and still the government won't listen. My heart goes out to all those who make a stand for what they believe in. So far away from the apathy that seems to prevail in this country, where many can't even be bothered to vote! Great song and very strong images.
