warning ! door to door charity collectors

The police have warned local residents about some men who are going door to door.  They claim to be collecting donations for Turkish Soldiers.  They have some paperwork and may appear to be official but the Gunlukbasi Police have warned that they are not official collectors.  Do not give them any money.  My husband Volkan has been in contact with the police as they came to our house today.  Since coming to our house Volkan has received a number of calls from ex-pat residents to tell him as they have visited them also today.  Volkan has a good relationship with the police through his translation work so this is why they have given him the advice and asked him to pass it on.  They also seem to be 'casing the joint' as well and trying to get inside houses.  Volkan is happy for anyone to call him if you want to report this and he will do this on your behalf (0532 5770625) or call 155 to let them know.

Thank you very much for the heads up and also to Volkan for his kind offer... I read on fb yesterday about a lady who was in her pool when they came to hers and did not want to get out to go and get some money and the "collectors" got a bit nasty or rude or similar, I did think then that surely they could not be genuine collectors, hope they get caught soon
