Loads, and I mean loads, of AK Parti banners and pennants around the centre of Fethiye last night, in preparation for today's arrival of the great one.  They all lead down to the marina area.  So not sure if that is a clue to future demolitions or not : :)

Fethiye in complete lockdown!!! Has taken me 45 minutes to get to bar (a walk of five usually)!! Never seen so many police and interestingly, every single woman has their head covered!! Just an observation!

I suppose most of these enthusiastic supporters have been bussed-in having turned out for RTE in Milas and Mugla over the last few days. Or am I getting carried away with my cynicism?

On the plus side, I have just driven from Gunlukbasi to (original) Kipa in record time. Not a parked car in sight on either side of the road

Not at all, I am sure you are right.

We went the other way to Calis.  Any reports from anybody who went to Fethiye?

I do hope the visit wont mean bulldozing businesses. I can't imagine anyone taking any pleasure from seeing that happen.

We are so, so happy to be totally out of it all now, we  had our almost 10 years of Turkish life, now extremely pleased to be safely back in the U.K. where there are PROPER laws and guidelines as to when a property/properties can be deemed to be illegal, and subsequently bulldozed, and not just be destroyed at the whim of a megalomaniac dictatorial statesman, who, mark my words, will change ANY and ALL statutes on the books, in order to further his own agenda, and to further feather the nests of his cronies, and family.
I firmly believe that we "got out" at the right time, and I am certain that within the next 12/18 months, many more will follow !!
