Methol and Nichola,  I wonder why yoy dislike Tesco so much you both want them to fail?
I am not a great user of Tesco as they are not as convenient for me in Scotland as some other Supermarkets, but I do like to visit Tesco every so often.
It seems that Tesco/Kipa is popular with ladies on this Forum because they do offer a variety of different things, things not offered by the other supermarkets
Competition is a good thing and as Migros and Tansas are the same company, once they take over Kipa, having the monopoly will, IMO not be a good thing, it will, be quite boring and ultimately, could push prices up.

There's never more than half a dozen people in each of the 6 supermarkets that are all within 10 minutes walking distance of each other. It's just ridiculous. They all sell the same stuff, whole aisles of plain yogurt, turnip juice and tomato paste and as much plastic kitchen tat as you can throw a stick at.

Kipa has been fined a total of 125 million TL after the tax ministry checked their accounts between 2009-2013 and found out they had not paid all their due taxes.

Well for once I agree with USB.  How many other big companies use creative accounting?   In fact, how many people who have businesses can say they have been totally honest to the last penny with their accounts ??
It seems a matter of course now to offer cash to someone who has provided a service for you so they don't have to declare the deal.

I'm sure many people thought when Kipa opened that it would be like shopping in Tesco in the UK and when it wasn't, they just bought items that were on special offer.  Also when you have a fantastic choice of fruit and veg at the market, you wouldn't buy them from a supermarket.  Perhaps Aldi or Lidl will open in Turkey.  They trade in Greece, which I know is an EU country but it hasn't stopped Tesco or IKEA.  There are lots of Turkish supermarkets - 101, Bim etc.  Tesco/Kipa should have stuck it out because the way things are moving. they could have sold a nice line in burka's.

Kipa may have been the only supermarket chain paying ANY tax in Turkey.

                           Who owns Bim.?

I agree Kevin.  I also noted that Kipa had a range of Tesco clothing and shoes, so there was something different from the other Supermarkets.
