Has anyone discovered yet if the gap between the two walls is going to be a walkway or not?

We thought exactly the same Steve. Maybe they will fill it in and grass it?

Well done UBT, your photos are great. Thank you for taking time to share and comment on them too. Hope we get a chance to see the improvements this year ourselves. We have a lot on this year but haven't given up hope of a quick week in Calis sometime.  :)

the stretch for the water taxi is a walkway.  I am not sure about the other stretches where the walls are both made of stone, firstly because there does not appear to be access onto what coul be a wLk, or there is an obstruction like a bridge support, also the area between the walls is full of rubble and rubbish, and whilst they coul concrete this fairly easily for a walkway, I am not sure it us suitable or deep enough for grass or plants.  The areas upstream on the main canal are being laid out, it looks like, to put in trees, plants grass and other botanical matter and possibly some paths..

Many thanks for the photos of the improvements throughout the area.I am amazed at the speed the works have been carried out.We in Blackburn,Lancashire could do with the same workmen to build our new bus station, they have so far managed to dig one small hole in 2 weeks since the start date! The view looking back towards the water taxi area is amazing and gives the whole area a very neat look, and I am sure the colourful water taxis will look great when moored along side it in the near future.

Thank you so much for the pictures. They really are worth a thousand words. You should also be pleased that you have stopped at least one person from dying of shock at the changes when we visit in 7 weeks. Hubby and I are very divided on the "changes".  Whilst we both agree that these are being done for the benefit of modernisation, practicality, and streamlining, he just sees the clean lines and clear fishing areas and I want to cry at every area of reeds that are destroyed.  I struggled with dealing with moving on from "the apartment down the dirt road" to "the one surrounded by block paving", too. But, we have said many times that "if only someone would put some pictures on" and you are doing a brilliant job. Thank you. (Deb)
