Got a copy of the new menu and I have to say some of the new prices are a bit over the top fair enough they have to make a living but the chicken and particularly the egg fried rice dishes have gone up a fair bit but chicken and rice in the supermarkets do not seem to have increased..we think it is a real shame as they do great food but now feel reluctant to use them ... Or if we do it will be asa treat only whereas before we used it pretty often..

Agree Karen, we used a  lot, especially in the winter when we didn't want to go out.  It was great just to ring and have it delivered to our door, been back 2 weeks and not had a take away yet - there are so many places to choose from.  Maybe if people boycott they will see the light, tonight I crossed the road and brought back a spit roast chicken and salad for 11.50 lira, had it with a jacket potato and a glass of wine   :)  :)

i must admit i liked Shanghai Blues but last time across we were enticed into Serkel 2 for a chinese, had the peking duck, spring rolls and sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and i can honestly say it was one of the best chinese meals i have ever tasted.

Very good point Marggie basically they have ruined a good thing so we have decided also we are not going to use they have shot themselves in the foot..we are at the meeting point where everything is impeccable great service lovely and clean and great menu choice and no price hikes at all from last year...and they do take away into the bargain...

Last night we had a Shanghai Blues Take Away and very nice it was too.  This was our first since the price increase - the exact same order cost 48 lira last time and 64 lira this time, an overall increase of 33.3%.  An increase of 33.3% is a pretty big hike in any money but the really huge leap is in the cost of boiled rice 75%, it has gone from 4 tl to 7 tl.  I'm pretty sure that there will not be many people who have a takeaway without rice of some sort so huge profit on every meal I would think.

Generally meals have gone up by 3 tl but King Prawn curry has gone up by 6 tl from 20.90 to 26.90.

Firms have to make a profit and we expect increases to counteract the increase in fuel prices and the annual increases in Turkey but these increases appear excessive to me.

And excessive to everyone else too Marggie, perhaps their excuse is the water and gas has gone up in price to boil the rice, total rip off in my opinion. :(
