I know what you mean Jondo, we have a kind of loyalty that stops us trying rival places! We always go to Cem & Can (as I said earlier) but we were able to try Receps a couple of times while ours had refurbishment. It was lovely food and we didn't feel too bad in the end because everyone from Cem & Can were having their own cay/lunch/snacking there too!

If you come out of the fish market at the paspartur side and walk along the street that would takes you along to megri  there is a restaurant on the right with a black and yellow sign.the tables are out on the street, all very nice.we have eaten there a couple of times and they will go and get fresh fish for you, cook it however you like and its cheaper than the fish market.I am like a lot of people in that having gone there at least once a year for seven years I have seen it change and become a rip off.still great for newbies though

I love the fish market and I'm sure I'd be happy in Oztoklu (simply based on the people I know who rate it) - but I also have great loyalty to Recep - I'd hate him to see us in another fish restaurant  :)

Also I believe Oztoklu is in the fruit market area? That might suit those who don't like the smell of fish but for me I love the square, the fish displays, the fishmongercis, the dining under the stars - I even like the men who come round doing their songs :o But I think more likely that I like the Turkish gents, getting more and more drunk on raki, flashing their cash to get these guys to sing. It does seem like they think it's something of a status symbol - look at me I paid them so much they stayed far too long :D

That's exactly what makes for the atmosphere Scunner, all those things. 2 years ago we chose, very wisely in retrospect, to have a spot of lunch at Receps. There were about 40 Russian paraglider pilots, guys and gals, celebrating or maybe even warming up for a flight (it's believable!) there too. What an atmosphere! They had drinking races, songs, and general tomfoolery and everyone got caught up in it. And no bad manners on display at any time - must have been the 'British' influenced aviation world standards prevailing!
Fortunately no air accidents were reported that or the following day!

I have never felt, like we have been ripped off at receps. 6 of us ate very well, drank wine, beer, soft drinks. Food and service brilliant. We don,t pick a fish from the middle leave it to Recep. He usually calls us up to his counter to pick what starters we want. Love the place, the bill came to slightly less than another brill night we had at kings garden, and we got a lift there n back too. The places we visit the bills seem to be pretty much the same and always seem reasonable.

Same here, I mentioned both on my Fethiye.co.uk website page on the fish market as I know how good one is and how well thought of the other is.

I was initially taken to Recep's by a Turkish friend and go every visit to Fethiye with another - Cenk. That's recommendation enough in itself.
