Enjoyed this post and the responses, as Jacqui rightly said, the perfume is industry is extremely well organised and controlled, one of the key ingredients in a good perfume is Bergamot, and this fruit only grows in a small coastal strip in Italy hence the supply is very limited and that is one, (there are a few) ingredient that contributes to high cost. So ........ like most things if it looks to good to be true .... it probably is! Even reputable web dealers get conned, I bought a bottle of Poeme for the Memsahib from a well known web dealer, only slightly less than normal shop price but the colour was wrong, it "felt" oily and the perfume close but not quite. I wrote to them and they were very apologetic and thanked me as they bought in good faith and it looked like a small number of fakes had been slipped in almost perfect packaging. (I couldn't see what was wrong but they wrote back saying there were imperfections but they were not at liberty to explain these). Offered to replace or Full refund, not a moments hesitation.
Finest Perfume unfortunately is horrendously expensive to make properly -- so --- its going to cost!
So, pay the price or choose one less "perfect" --- Memsahib wont have that mind you --I am just instructed that Retirement is becoming less of an option! (Joking, she doesn't want me to work any more really!)
