paying for chairs on beach?
« on: June 08, 2014, 08:58:13 AM »
Is the council in charge of the now? There is a young man going to all People using sun loungers and parasols taking money and giving tickets, also charging for cushions,  does this mean they are now doing the clean?
Also interesting watching as not charging the Turkish.

So, the bars/restaurants did the clean saving the council a packet, tut tut.

in years past the locals have always been told to get off the sunbeds if they don't pay. If what you say is accurate then it's a marked change of attitude for those running the beach. I think if tourists twig that locals get them free this year then they'll move along the beach to the places that the council don't own. Don't suppose places like the Nil will like this but the people spending the money can always take it somewhere else. we didn't bother with the council ones last year, simply wandered up north. There are plenty of beds up that way that you don't have to pay for. The council's income would also drop if all they got were locals who weren't paying...

Today I thought I would try something, just feeling in a mischievous mood, instead of sitting by the pool decided to use the beach. Young man came along charge the holiday makers and skipped a few locals, when he came to me I could not resist, I spoke to him in Turkish, told him I had no money even offered him to go through my bag, also told him that my husband had run off!
I know naughty but.... Free sun bed. :-D

TheresaH, walked along the prom til you reach Obens. there's a little lane between Oben and the big beach club. Walk down there about 100mtrs and you will come Guvens.
