In SEAsia I've seen a few wearing surgical masks on flights. Seems like it might be a good idea!
Nah, ask any surgeon, the idea of the mask is to assist in reducing the Bacteria a Doctor or Nurse breathes out onto the patient not the other way round! Virus particles are so small that the surgical mask is ineffective, hence the SARS spreading like wildfire in Hong Kong despite the fact that almost the entire population took to wearing surgical masks! Our modern lifestyles are so clinical we have stopped developing our immunities as well which doesn't help. Those of us brought up in the 40's and 50's were exposed to so many virus's and bacterial infections that we really didn't think anything much of it but we have an excellent bank of resistance now! I used to panic whenever I heard about a respiratory virus as with severely damaged lungs from birth (only found out in my 50's) I become pneumonic so easily but it is surprising how strong the human body is. I do hope it has disappeared from Calis by the time I get there though!

Cough Wheeze

Doctors and nurses very rarely wear masks anymore, once they get damp with exhaled moisture they are not worth the paper they are made from.

I am at this moment on day 10 of a hospital stay.
According to the doctors I picked up some form of bug which got into my lungs and ended up with me having double pneumonia.
It seems I am the second person to be treated at GRI with 'almost' an identical virus although they have been unsuccessful in their efforts to grow it hence the almost.
What I have been told is that there is a bug of sorts throughout the middle east which is causing people all sorts of problems although none as severe as me and the one other person.

Hi Anne , hope you get well soon , i can only imagine what you're going through . You must be strong and fight this awful virus just as we tell our daughter ,
The dr says that this virus if he is right started in Saudi Arabia , from a camel , yes i laughed , don't laugh too much Anne , you might start coughing .....
The drs are too very worried regarding this virus , they play their cards close to their chest not to start panicking people .
GET WELL SOON x
