That is why we buy at a local supermarket and pack it.  How many pairs of shoes and dresses do you need for a holiday in Calis who are you trying to impress?

Is it legal to buy alcohol in the UK and take it into Turkey in your suitcase in addition to your duty free allowance? There's some good offers on in our local supermarket at the moment and we soon go through our duty free on holiday! Thanks

No, it's not legal you have to stick to your allowance.  However, it depends if someone opens your case.  I know that suitcases are x-rayed now when they come off the plane in a lot countries, don't know if they do it at Dalaman though.  So, it' a chance you take.
Good news is there is no ban on shoes and clothes...thank goodness... ;D  ;)

I'm not sure that's true - your duty free allowance is exactly that - what you bought duty free. Supermarket purchases are duty paid and would not form part of your allowance.

£24 for a box of Hardy's Shiraz in Manchester Airport.

And about £15 in Morrisons.

It is true the 3lt boxes of wine are generally more expensive at the UK duty frees. It's a bit like Cadbury's Dairy Milk - they know how many countries have very poor alternatives  ;)

We were going to bring out Champagne for Paul's wedding a couple of years ago.  However, after an internet search some people warned against taking it over in our suitcases in case it was taken from us.  So, we bought it at the Duty Free.  This is why I assumed it would not be allowed.

I've been taking around half a dozen bottles with me each time I've been on holiday to Turkey for years.

Never been busted.
