« on: August 26, 2014, 19:03:18 PM »
We will be at our apartment for a month in Sept/Oct. I am wondering if you can register with a doctor for that time, Why I ask, is I worry if I needed a doctor in night how would I explain where we live  thanking in advance for any advice

Turkey doesn't have GPs as such. If you need a doctor urgently you phone for an ambulance and get taken to the hospital.

If you have an apartment, you have an address. So, you need to learn how to say your address in Turkish together with the phrase "Acilen bir ambulans gönderin....." (Please send an ambulance urgently to....)

Or, you could call a taxi to take you to one of the hospitals.

The doctors in Hisaronu have "shops" where you can walk in for treatment and they all speak good English.
We keep the mobile numbers from two of these centre's with us.On two occasions we had an amergency at
our place, we rang them and they were there within a couple of minutes, they phoned for an ambulance and
on each occasion the ambulance arrived within a couple of minutes. My elderly mom in law was rushed to the
Esnaf Hospital in Fethiye and was receiving treatment within two minutes of arrival. Brilliant service.
So get two mobile contact numbers and KEEP THEM WITH YOU.      ;)  ;)

Depends where your apartment is in Çaliş, there is a clinic at the bottom of Baris Manco, near the dolphin less roundabout, you could get a contact number for them. There is also a Turkish clinic on the old road, which runs from Calis to Gunlukbasi, between Migros and BIM near the Sunday market. They have one doctor who speaks some English his name is Ufuk and he will happily give you his personal phone number, but the clinic is not 24/7. Best bet is just to call 112 for an ambulance.

Turkey does have a g.p. system however the  state doctors don't do house visits.
My husband is a g.p. in Ovacik and we have a private surgery with such a registration system for Ovacik and Hisaronu. Unfortunately Calis is too far so we don't do house visits there.

Yep. So, not a GP as such. A private doctor with a private surgery who charges fees.

All Turkish people are registered with a g.p. (aile hekimi) at their local sağlık ocağı) but like I wrote, they don't do house calls.
