I agree with the comments about some drivers, most were taking care when passing through deep water yet plenty were overtaking at speed, sheer madness when kerbstones and speed ramps etc. were underwater. We tried to get into Fethiye today but found the car park next to the town square was flooded up to the wheel arches of the cars parked in there. Further on, the police had closed the road from the mosque down towards Migros and fire engines were desperately trying to pump away floodwater. Without stopping, it took us an hour to drive from Çalis to Fethiye and back!
On a brighter note, the new drains certainly seem to have made a big difference around the parts of Çalis we observed today, in years past we have seen water knee deep down our road during really bad storms, today we didn't have so much as a puddle.
