My brother in law is one of the 700 and his wife said last week that he will be home earlier in January as there had been changes to the planned 2 week isolation period, basically sending him home to see what happens!

Having now seen what happens, lets hope common sense prevails.

I think the actions of those volunteers is amazing, true heroes.

Six police cars accompanied two ambulances as she was taken to Glasgow Airport.

A tad over the top if the risk is extremely low wouldn't you say.

PS I agree kevin3 - the volunteers are good men and women

Two more suspected cases on in the Highlands, the person has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. One in Truro.
Both recently returned from Africa.

There was a radio phone-in programme on this topic this morning. Many of the calls reminded me of the nursery story of Chicken Little - plenty of hysterical panic probably from media scaremongering to sell more "news"papers.

Why the police escort? Am I missing something, Was the patient going to run into the crowds and infect everyone?

Fully agree with the bottle these volunteers have in these situations.

Colwyn - I am not one of those panicking (yet  ;)).

I just don't understand why there are not more stringent checks being made.

And the police escort was a total farce - an utter waste of manpower and resources. Little wonder Police Scotland claim their budget is stretched.

Good for you. I hope you had your flu jab this autumn because that's a infectious disease that really wipes out dozens each winter.

I arrived Glasgow airport on Sunday, but luckily I didn't exchange any bodily fluids with the infected nurse.  I also flew back down south today, but I think I was on a different flight.  So, I think I'm OK!

Seriously though, its a bit crap, and the people that fly abroad to help others are the ones that seem to be at risk.  I suppose there needs to be more intense screening, but I think its already as tight as it can be and I don't know what can be done.
