So, according to this , it has, for years , been ok to sloosh year arse with Raki or any other  alcohol after taking a " tom-tit ", but not ok to use toilet paper?     Hmmmm, makes one wonder what the Turkish supermarket customers do with all of the HUGE packs of toilet paper that they buy ?? .. I suppose that . " on the whole " it doesn't really matter, does it ??

A few years ago whilst working as a rep in Tunisia, I went on an excursion with a coach full of tourists. The guide for the excursion was called Mohammed.  At one of our 'comfort' stops, a very irate woman came out of the toilet shouting and creating hell.  She went up to the guide and complained that there was no toilet roll in the toilet.  Mohammed looked at her and calmly stated "madam, here in Tunisia it is the Islamic/Muslim way to wash NOT spread, and that is why there are washing facilities within the toilet area".  The woman's face was a picture.

I was travelling In Sulawesi, Indonesia a while back and visited the squat loos in the Bus station before the Bus journey.  The attendant on the door wanted to know if I required One sheet or Two.  Told her I didn't know yet and took the two   

I always keep a supply of loo paper with me on my travels !!

I've lived in a lot of Muslim countries and have to say there is nothing like using the cold water hose you see hooked up by the Toilette.  Saves on paper too !!
