Does it really matter what you eat in what ever country you are in as long as you enjoy it.

No, that is why I wrote "each to their own" - my point is not that people shouldn't eat this or that, of course they should eat whatever they want to. My point was that the "Indian" meals I have had in Turkey have been poor compared with those I have in the UK, so I won't be wasting a night on one - I'll wait till I get home.

The other point that curries are different in the UK to India - that may well be true, but in the UK I get an Indian meal made by a chef of Indian (or Bangaladeshi) birth or heritage, in Turkey I get one made by Ahmet who has been to the spice market and thinks he's the Curry King  :)

The majority of Indian restaurants in The UK are run by Pakistanis.. (In Yorkshire and Manchester anyway)   .   They are certainly better than the ones in Calis but if you are living there or fancy an "Indian" then hopefully the new place will be a good substitute. We have never rated the other Calis one.. Overpriced and a poor substitute for any that I have been to in Yorkshire... Just our opinion.

My Father was stationed in Karachi during the War and of course, that was Indian then.  So, probably Pakistan food is not dissimilar to Indian Food.

No they are not, the majority are run by Bangla Deshees or of Bangla Deshi desent.  And there is a difference between Pakastani and Bangla Deshi meals and specialties, as is indeed there is differences across the whole of the Indian sub-continent.  If you are lucky enough to have a South Indian specialist restaurant, you try a whole range of dishes almost completely different from the largely generally available Bangla Desh derived dished in the UK.

Finally, I can't say too much about the Calis Beach Indian, the meals I have had there were so so.  However the Shine in Hissy does its best to offer a range of curries and accompaniments that are as close to the curries we get at home from the local (Bangla Deshi) Indian, and I think on that comparison they are better than OK.

Finally in support of the Turkish Curry.. I love 'em.  Yes they are not like the curries we get at home, nor indeed are they like the chinese or thai curries we get at home, but they are generally very, very tasty... and top of the 'Turkish Curry' league for me here are Frank Canons in Calis and the Kadianda in Uzumlu.

Pakistanis are well represented in the British food industry. Many self-employed British Pakistanis own takeaways and restaurants. "Indian restaurants" in the North of England are almost entirely Pakistani owned.[86] According to the Food Standards Agency, the South Asian food industry in the UK is worth £3.2 billion, accounting for two-thirds of all eating out, and serving about 2.5 million British customers every week.[87] Kashmiri and Punjabi origin curry sauces are sold in British supermarkets by British Pakistani entrepreneurs such as Manchester-born Nighat Awan. Awan's Asian food business, Shere Khan, has made her one of the richest women in Britain.[88] Mumtaz is one of the most high profile Pakistani restaurants in the UK. Its flagship establishment is in Bradford, where famous diners have included Prime Minister David Cameron and Queen Elizabeth II.[89][b  Thats what I said Yorkshire is mostly Pakistanis.. I have friends who are Pakistanis and own 3..

To be perfectly honest. I don't care what they are as long as they do a good curry.... and there aren't many that do bad ones . In Yorkshire anyway.. I will be trying the new one is Calis as we have 14  and 28 meals to fit in and I can't go long without a curry. It is our favourite food...
