3C’S DESPERATE FOR NEW MEMBERS

This is a serious appeal for people to join the 3C’s Committee.

Over the last few  years a number of committee members have left the 3C’s either to return permanently to the UK, to move on to pastures new or to pursue other interests or to meet business commitments.

Although the charity is very pleased and very grateful to receive lots of support from many sources and we are able to recruit volunteers who are more than happy  to work  for a few hours in our charity shop or to help man (or woman) a stall at one of our fairs or coffee mornings, regrettably, there is no-one volunteering to come forward to join the committee at the sharp end where the plans and decisions are made. As a result, our committee is getting smaller and smaller but our events are getting bigger and bigger.

Also, in September, some of the 3C’s  long standing members are standing down from their senior positions on the committee after many years of commitment. Although some will still be around to help out generally on the committee, our charity is  looking for new members to come forward to help fill these roles and to bring fresh ideas to take us forward into the future.

Sadly, it is a fact that without the work and commitment  of the 3C’s committee members, there would be no Çalış Christmas Fair, no Çalış Spring Fair, no monthly Çalış car boot sales, no 3C’s charity shop and no other 3C’s fundraising events.  It is the committee members that organise all of these things and it is the committee members that then decide where the money raised from these events is best spent to help the children.

If  our charity is unable to recruit more committee members to help in this organisation, then it is possible that some,  or all of these events, and therefore,  in turn the amount of  help that is given  to local children, may be in jeopardy.

If you feel that you are able to commit to helping the 3C’s on a more regular basis and enjoy a challenge then the charity would love to have you on board. Unfortunately, we cannot pay you and sometimes it will be stressful,  but we can guarantee that you will be well rewarded when you see how the money raised  through the committee’s  organisation helps to change the lives of local youngsters and helps the poorer local schools.

The committee generally meets once a month (there may be additional meetings before a major event) and in between there could be school visits (which are a reward in themselves),  or additional meetings or events that you may be required to attend.  However, it is not all work, it is also fun and it is a really great way to get to know people and to put back something into the local Turkish community that have warmly welcomed us into their country.

The 3C’s has now been operating for 8 years  (for the first 3 years under the name of Çalış Carnival Committee) and at the end of this financial year we will have raised close on half a million Turkish Lira during this time, all which has gone to help local children.

Please help our charity  to continue this good work into the future.  If you would like to join the 3C’s  committee or would like to discuss what is involved further please  pm me or ring  the charity phone 0536 373 9520.

Thank you for reading this.

I will gladly run the risk of this being viewed as a "rant" because I feel so passionately about it.

People didn't need to got off their collective backsides and put that wonderful smile on this beautiful young girls face.

But they did !!!.

She, and hundreds of other kids in her position, didn't ask for help. She would probably be far to proud to do that.

But the 3c's and CBF DID help her.

The 3C's say that it is an opportunity for people to give something back to a country and region that has welcomed people.

It is !.

But is also an opportunity to help under privileged kids who do not ask for much.

Please consider offering your help to the wonderful 3C's.

Despite all the good work reported on here, I would say the generous gestures of CBF members to support this magnificent group who CHANGE YOUNG LIVES FOREVER would all come, in their entirety, from less than 1% of CBF members.

The best thing non-resident people can do is stick their hand in their pocket once in a while and sit back with a warm feeling - all for the price of a round of Efes!

This is a "there I said it" post - thank you.

I had the pleasure of working  with the Carnival committee and the Now 3cs... Best five years of my life..!! . Although we have re located to The UK I still show a great interest in the charity and am always willing to give a hand when we are over there.. Many of the original members are still there but they as Chrissie says are fewer in number and really need commited people to carry on. I really hope that they get some help...such a great cause...
I had the best experience ever helping to fund raise for Bozalan... An experience which will always stay with me.

Word for word how I feel too - I didn't do 5 years like Anne (mercury) but the Bozalan CBF fundraiser was incredible to be part of - from setting it up to delivering the telly!!! If I could put into words what that day like to witness and be part of, I'd make that 1% I mentioned ten times more.

Sadly, I can't.

I'm not sure that people fully realise the wonderful work that the 3 C's do in a number of schools and in providing educational bursaries for young people in the area.

If that was to come to an end that would be surely be one of the saddest results of the present situation :( .
