Hamlet, my Allium is not very reliable. I planted bulbs few years ago and got three spikes the first year. The second year it was five spikes and I had hopes that it was forming a clump and would be spectacular in the future. Then last year there were none and I thought they were dead. This year I have two spikes. Perhaps they are very sensitive to weather or perhaps I was rather careless with the spring hoeing. So, if they have suddenly appeared and they haven't been seen before perhaps yours are the same.

Colwyn, we have owned the villa for almost 6 years, from new, the garden in which this plant is located is a 'back-filled' area done at the same time, although the soil probably came from the same/adjoining area but we have never seen anything like it in the vicinity & that's why we were puzzled as to what it was.   8)
