I will report back on our findings as to whether it really is as cheap to go to Spain these days (as some have said) for eating out etc but I doubt it somehow.
I think you might be surprised, even though you're in one of the most expensive (outside major cities) areas, the Costa del Sol. Stay away from the obvious tourist bars/restaurants and find out where the locals go - money is tight in Spain, high unemployment (circa 35% in Andalucia) and an economy that is struggling mean the locals usually patronise places that offer the best value. If the menu is only in Spanish that's always a good start

Just booked an Andalucian road trip, Granada, Cordoba, Seville, Cadiz as a direct replacement for our Turkish holiday.
We were in both Granada and Cordoba in December just gone - Granada quite pricey for eating out at times, Cordoba far more reasonable with (in our opinion) a far better choice for food. Both lovely places to stay for a few days, biggest drawback is parking and navigation if you're in the old town area of either. Sat nav essential!
Cadiz is very pretty but we prefer its near neighbour Jerez. Been spending a fair bit of time in Jerez recently and have just decided to rent a house there over this coming Winter.
Pricewise, Jerez is even cheaper than Granada & Cordoba and has some superb restaurants - then there is also the Fino and Manzanilla at silly prices! As you've got a car, it'd be worth a trip to Jerez from Cadiz; also Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María are close by and worth a visit for the Manzanilla and fish restaurants respectively. If you go to either on a Sunday, go early as they both fill up with Spanish families in the afternoon.
If you want any info about any of the above, give me a shout - we often take our car or hire one so have suffered a few of the pitfalls already

HAVE A NICE DAY.
Thank you. I have had a nice day, although it was kind of you to say that.
