Security should be at the entrance these days. Sod the delays. Anyone taking a bag into an airport, station or large shopping centre should have to go through security.

These guys are the suspected bombers. The two in black are wearing gloves on their left hand to possibly hide detonators. The third guy got away.

Looks like they simply walked in with their cases on trolleys and detonated their bombs.

I was going to point out that at Dalaman the security starts almost at the door, but then I remembered the time it was supposed to be on high alert and I still was using my cool air spray and drinking my water right up to boarding

No it would happen outside where hundreds of people have to queue up waiting to get to the baggage check inside the doors.

Turkish airports do it the correct way by having check ins at the entrance. This makes more sense. Even in shopping mals in Ankara they scan you before entering. I know the recent attacks in Ankara were outside but that is unavoidable. In Feb I travelled to Rome from Manchester Airport and entered Airport, checked in, went through security then finally saw 2 policemen standing by the duty free shop. This to me isn't security. If anyone wanted to do harm they had plenty of opportunity at entrance and check in.

Last time I flew from Dalaman and Chiang Mai there were very few queuing at the entrances yet the check-in area was very busy.

I personally wouldn't mind waiting a little longer while they do extra checks. Safety more important than waiting time.

But putting airport security at every railway station entrance, every bus station entrance and every ferry terminal entrance is surely not practical.
