I find myself the bearer of the saddest of news – the passing, last Tuesday, of Martin (MSB) lotty’s beloved partner.
Lotty is utterly heartbroken.
Brenda and I have known Martin and lotty for a relatively short time. Lotty, a loyal supporter of the 3 C’s (and other Calis charities) was kind enough to introduce herself one night on the prom.
After that we had the pleasure of sharing their company on a number of occasions and from the outset it was if we had known this lovely couple for years. Those meetings were such a joy and ones which we will always treasure.
Sadly, we did not have the opportunity to get to know Martin more but it was clear from our all too brief meetings what a true gentle, considerate man he was. His love for lotty was also abundantly clear as was her love for him.
We knew from early on that Martin was not at all well. I hope lotty won’t mind me saying that Martin fought his illness in the same way as our Rachel. Never a word of complaint and always a stoical defiance behind his quiet engaging smile.
We will miss Martin terribly and we will miss not having the opportunity of getting to know him better.
Our thoughts are very much with lotty at this dreadfully sad time.
Rest in peace Martin.
