and often give you a small free gift.  A tin of beans last time.

Beautiful   ;)

Yes, we thought it was beautiful too.  A tin of beans may be nothing to us, but, it is the thought that counts and with the lack of business and tourism being so bad, it is very kind of them to do this.  Better than going to the Ces and getting diddled.

 J H .
I See that you stated that it was many years since you went to Ces  market  how do you explain about getting diddled ? .
. was it years ago ?  or just Hearsay!.
.I remember around 12 years ago  when he & his wife took over a run down  empty shell painted it out with mops and buckets of whitewash slept on the floor with a baby  with very little stock built the trade up from nothing to do what they have / do now delivering all over calis on a day / night basis .
in my opinion a damm good  hard worker with hundreds of loyal customers  Posts like yours makes me so mad >:(

I have to say that we use Ces every time we are out. Never felt diddled at any time and he stocks almost everything. Always welcomed back warmly when we go in.  :)

Blueclad, it seems you are mad because you use this shop and it started from scratch, but I would make two points.  Firstly, best to decide whether to be mad when you know the facts. Secondly, because someone starts a business from scratch is no reason to believe that they are angels, above reproach and should never receive any criticism.
It was a number of years ago.  However, it still gives me a bad feeling when I think back at what happened to me. Briefly, we bought stuff in the shop and the guy told us he would deliver anything. We rang and ordered some items including BBQ Bricks and kindling.  When the items were delivered the driver gave us two steaks for the BBQ..  I said we had not ordered them, he said there must have been a mistake, we did order them. We knew we had not, as we had BBQ meat already.  However, we decided to pay for the steak and put it down to a simple error.  We put it on the BBQ. It was the worst steak we every had, hard as rocks.
The next week we gave them another try for a delivery. My husband was in the shower when the same guy arrived.  He asked for more money than was on the list. I had the right money ready as we had added up the costs.  I insisted that he was overcharging.  I was standing on my veranda and walked into the house to get the list he followed me in and started to shout at me and stood very close asking for the money.  I still insisted he was charging 20 lira to much.  He said "O.K. Just give me an extra 10 T.L. He really frightened me.  I gave him the extra money and he left.
My husband was furious and we decided not to use the place again.
So, sorry if you are mad Blueclad, but if someone had been aggressive to your wife and used a threatening attitude in your own home, would you ever go back, no matter how long ago it was?   They built their business from scratch, you say,  I did the same thing I worked long hard hours and built a successful.  This is how businesses work.
Perhaps these were isolated incidents and yes they were a number of years ago, but I don't care.  We have found lots of other shops that we want to use since then.
