Bazlama Ekmek / Village Bread has been around forever, usually hidden away on a Gozleme stall on one of the Markets. We tried it a couple of times over the years but thats it. Guess its Village bread because of its four basic ingrediants and ease of cooking,though yogurt is often added
too.
2017 it seems to have taken on a new life, Migros has a good plain wrap one in the MMM Fethiye store. Gozleme stall at the Saturday Market has  home made version we like. The favouite for us is the  Efe Firin Bazlama Dukkani, Baha Şıkman Cd. No: 185, Patagonian Quarter
48300 Fethiye. Made on the premises, also has a busy restaurant/cafe.
The Bazleme best to be kept in the fridge as no preservatives are used. It freezes good too. We prefer to refresh it a few mins in the oven out of the fridge or after thawing from the freezer. It has a great crusty taste.Perfect fot toat too. Great with or without butter...
Efe make two sizes. As photo. Priced just now at 1TL and 2.5TL. For those from "UP north" the small one is a bit like the Lancashire"Oven Bottom" good size for an individual sandwitch...
Most will be up to date with this but if it encourages one more try its well woth the effort... Yes! we are big fans.....

I tried it for the first time last week. I got mine in sok, Ovacik the bottom one by asda. It was on the shelf under the bread. so nice I had mine with a curry instead of a naan bread, and with my casserole. It is really lovely. I'm glad I know the proper name for it, hopefully it will be on the shelves and not just for Byram. Thanks!

If you toast it, it makes a pretty good substitute for a muffin....

Pleased you tried it Bernie. Sounds good the way you used it too. Its been around a long time and wont go away anytime soon. With the commercial ones from supermarkets they will make addatives for longer shelf life. Efe specialises only in Bazlama, they dont bake other breads so they will be around too. If you have the opportunity to call there try it, we think its the very best....

Haha... Yes True.... When we are in UK and visit rellies in Shaw we go to Oldham indoor Market to pick up a supply of Oven Bottom muffins, and we agree with you. Again in the Efe Firin Cafe the specialise in Tost on the menu.. Never eaten there but its always busy in the mornngs.
Dont forget one of the best if not the best locally made butters is just along the road oppisite Şok store Çağlacan Süt they will cut a piece to your required size.. Reccomend the Yogurt especially the süzme,oh and the Ayran....  :) what do i know???

We have a load of Bazlama in our freezer as my mother-in-law gave us to bring back to UK. I agree philrose very nice toasted. That's good to know Ovacik2 about the butter as when I'm there i do miss a good spread as i find most of the Turkish margarines tasteless. No Clover there  :D

Out of interest we checked the ingrediants in the Bazlama available in Migros..... 15 ingrediants If your Mother inlaw made yours Rana you are a winner.... Picked up some Bazlama from the Efe shop chatted with the boss and yes they make it with the traditional ingrediants. By the way have you tried the Becel Tereyği Keyfi Margarine. We find it a good one....

Yes she makes ovacik2 but just yeast, flour & salt. Probably Migros has additives. Yes i buy becel with gold lid which has a slight flavour but not a patch on clover :D Next time i will give your recommendation a try thanks.
